Particulate matter and fine dust, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), NOx, SOx, PAHs,
viruses and bacteria, moulds and spores, mites, gases, airborne oil and waxes, etc.
Scientific research has identified the reason why ventilation is not sufficient to handle air contamination. Contaminants are all carried by the particulate matter formed by dust and droplets of infinitesimal size. 98% of these particles are too small to respond to ventilation or to fall to the ground under gravity and remain suspended in the air or are attracted by electrically-charged surfaces such as screens, furniture, walls, etc.
The air we breathe is like the water we drink: an inalienable right.
We are willing to pay for better drinking water.
With air we have had no choice.
UNTIL NOW
All human beings spend 80% of their time awake in the workplace or public and entertainment areas predominantly INDOORS where the air quality is on average far below the minimum standards to ensure a healthy environment.
The respiratory airways are routinely exposed to all kinds of contaminants:
pollen, viruses, bacteria, VOCs, black carbon, hydrocarbons, pesticides, disinfectants, formaldehyde, paint fumes... Not to mention the contaminated air in our cities which enters the indoor environments when we open the windows and adds to the already contaminated indoor air, lingering in the rooms endlessly.
The publication of scientific research conducted in the U.S. in 2003 showed that 98% of the total particulate matter dispersed in the air is less than 3 microns in size and that, given the infinitesimal mass, does not respond to gravity or ventilation and remains suspended in the air for from 19 hours to an indefinite time depending on the size. Research has also shown that bacteria, viruses and spores, which travel in particulate form, behave in the same way as fine particles since they are mainly influenced by the primary electrical forces that control the distribution of fine particles in indoor environments.
