TORONTO — Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Chris Garrett is the CFL offensive player of the week, rushing for 152 yards and a touchdown on the final week of the regular season.
Garrett scored his eight-yard touchdown in the third quarter, which gave the Roughriders a 17-13 advantage. It wasn’t enough for Saskatchewan, as the Edmonton Eskimos won the game 30-26.
Edmonton linebacker Rennie Curran and kick returner Jamal Miles won awards for their roles in the Eskimos’ triumph.
Curran tied his season-high with 11 tackles and added a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown — his first in the CFL — to win defensive player of the week honours.
Miles had a clutch 79-yard punt return touchdown with under a minute to play in the game to earn the special teams honours.
B.C. running back Andrew Harris was named top Canadian.
The Winnipeg native ran for 102 yards and a touchdown as the Lions beat Calgary 26-7.
